Priest River's Tea Party

Approximately 300 citizens gathered in front of the Priest River City Hall at noon on April 15. The purpose was to protest government spending and government interference in too many parts of American life.

Organizer Chelsea Earls did a spectacular job of putting together all the pieces of this event in a short time. Speakers had the crowd shouting "yes" at regular intervals and they pointed out government intrusions into our lives and reminded us of some of the true leaders we've had in the past. Once again hearing the story of the original Boston Tea Party gave me chills.

In addition to planned speakers, at least a dozen citizens took the microphone to share their insights and warnings about regulations that are currently under consideration in Washington D.C.

I for one am proud that Priest River citizens gathered for this cause - joining larger communities across the U.S. I'm also proud that attendees represented both old and young, rich and poor, and everyone in between.

If you attended this event, or a similar event, please come to The Priest River Blog and add your comments about the day's events.
