God's Provision Thrift Shop

Highway 57, Priest River, Idaho

< >

God's Provision is more than just a Thrift Shop that donates its profits to charitable causes. It stands as an inspiration, and an example of the cooperation and goodwill that can thrive when all members of a group share a common goal - and set personalities aside.

While some might think this is "A church group," it isn't. The dozen or so regular volunteers come from 5 or 6 different churches around the community. Some are Catholic, some Methodist, some Baptist. One volunteer I spoke with attends the Real Life Ministries in Post Falls and drives 40 miles roud trip from her home in Blanchard to volunteer here.

At least one volunteer who visited with me attributes the harmony in this group to Director Carolyn Sherman. She said it could be no other way, because "Carolyn loves everyone."

Money raised at God's Provision helps support many causes, including the Priest River Food Bank, Simply His, Ralph & Judy Wright's New Life Home in Texas, orphans in Africa, Guatemalan hurricane victims, and many more.

In addition, clothing, household goods, and emergency funds are made available for local citizens who are in need.

This year, God's Provision is in charge of distribution of Coats for Kids - and while supplies of small sizes were short early in the season, they now have a good selection and hope any parent with a "cold child" will bring them in to pick up a good winter coat.

God's Provision also helps out with Our Father's Cupboard - a new Priest River service for families in need.

There's something for everyone at God's Provision. From clothing in all sizes to books to puzzles to smallhousehold appliances and furniture. Right now there's a good supply of Christmas decor just waiting to bring Christmas cheer to Priest River homes.
